Everest 2021 Update – Dr Jon Kedrowski – 7th May
Dr Jon Kedrowski updates us from Everest on the day that the rope fixing team, led by Kami Rita Sherpa, summited Everest, paving the way for many others over the next few weeks.
“Just a couple of Days ago While I was up in Camp 2 I had soup with Kami Rita Sherpa (green suit).
“Well- just 30 minutes ago here in Nepal at 6pm local time Friday May 7, Kami made it to the top of Everest leading the rope fixing team of 12 Nepalese Sherpas.
“All I can say is wow! Kami is one of the most humble, thoughtful, and amazing people I have ever met. All the best for the kickoff to the Everest summit season and congrats to the rope fixing team for setting the route!
“Now let’s all root for these guys to come down safely.
“In a couple of weeks after the Jet Stream backs off (it’s scheduled to get windy from May 13-18th or so) we’ll go back up when the mountain let’s us.
“Until then- rest recover and congrats to the Sherpas!”
