Everest 2021 Update – Mountain Professionals – 2nd May

An update from ”Mountain Professionals’ on May 2nd.

“The adventure continues on Mt. Everest.

“Bluebird days, icy crevasses, and dramatic Himalayan vistas were the themes of our group’s first acclimatization run to Camps 1 & 2 last week. The team returned to Base Camp safely on 4/27, where they enjoyed some well-earned rest, showers, and a celebratory brunch.

“Thankfully, the Khumbu Icefall is in relatively good shape this year, allowing for quick and safe passage through this notorious obstacle below Camp 1. Clear skies and idyllic weather at C1 afforded unobstructed views of the Western Cwm and Everest’s neighboring peak, Lhotse.

“To further acclimatize, the team embarked on a day trip to Camp 2 (situated at 21,000’), where they stopped for a noodle and tea lunch before heading back down.

“On their next rotation, the team will return to Camp 2 for three nights before making an acclimatization trip to C3. The journey is progressing well, morale is high, and the team is stoked to get back on the mountain. Onward and upward!”
