Everest ER Update – 4th May

Up to 4th May, 227 patients have visited Everest ER so far this season.

Most common complaints:

Cough (A perpetual #1 season to season, but this year it’s especially challenging in light of the covid pandemic. We do not have the capacity for rapid point of care testing at the moment)

Gastrointestinal issues

Sore throat (see #1)

Musculoskeletal pain

A few injuries/illnesses flown from camp 2 were seen by our doctors at the helipad before completing their evacuation to Kathmandu, and we have cared for 35 patients requiring evacuation.

Our team of doctors are volunteers; any funds collected for care from non Nepali patients are used to subsidize very low cost or free visits for Nepali patients. To find out more about our mission, please visit www.himalayanrescue.org.np

Headline photo is of our team caring for 2 climbers rescued after being hit by ice and injured after falling into a crevasse. Luckily both sustained only minor soft tissue injuries.
