Internet Awards for ‘Sport Climbing’ Content

Three original Olympic Channel series featuring ‘Sport Climbing’ picked up awards at the 42nd annual Telly Awards and the 23rd annual Webby Awards.

Ahead of Sport Climbing’s debut at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 this Summer, the sport came out on top in the ‘Online Series – Webseries: Non-Scripted’ category of The Telly Awards, taking gold with the series ‘Road to Tokyo: Sport Climbing – the Qualifier Stories’. The four-part series, which followed athletes as they competed for Olympic qualification spots at the 2019 IFSC Combined Qualifier in Toulouse, France, premiered on the Olympic Channel in October 2020.

Claiming a second prize at The Telly Awards was the sports science documentary series ‘Anatomy Of’. Starring Sport Climbing’s Nathaniel Coleman of the USA, who will compete at the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer, the series won a silver award in the ‘Online – General: Entertainment’ category.

In The Webby Awards, which honours excellence on the internet, the Olympic Channel’s ‘Inspired by Sport’ scooped one of the top prizes in the ‘Video – Sports (Video Series & Channels)’ category. The first episode features Olympian Kyra Condie of the USA, who experiences how the challenge of climbing can bring personal transformation to four young refugee women.
