Selected updates from teams operating on Everest – 13th May.
“Our Expedition team Helene Drouin Javier Remon Safaris and Frank Loke are back to base camp and our documentary team are still at camp 2 to do some shooting and will be back to base camp tomorrow.”
“Ang Jangbu reports that the upper mountain is stocked and ready for our team to head to the summit. Great work by all of our Sherpa and a huge thank you!
“IMG Expedition Leader Jonathan Schrock is watching the weather and has the team ready to go when we see an opening. Forecasting the weather is a big challenge and we are anticipating a weather window in the next week or so; time will tell and we are ready to go!”
“The team is staying active in the thick air around Dingboche, hiking off the beaten path up towards Ama Dablam. Feels good to be away from Everest for a few days and hike off the beaten path where we don’t see another person.
“We are making plans now to head back to BC on the 15th. And start watching the weather closely. Hoping for some break in the forecasted winds over the next 5 days.
“The Sherpa team dropped back down to Everest BC today, until conditions improve on the upper mountain.”
“This year, climbing Mt. Everest has proven to be more difficult and any past year. Every day we come across one hurdle or the other. Even in such situation the climbers’ spirits are high and almost 15% of the climbers have successfully reached the top.
“Our team is planning to attempt their summit within next week. We wish everyone in the team good luck, good health, good weather, safe and successful climb.”
