Imagine Nepal Triumphs on K2 in Rare August Summit
In a remarkable late-season achievement, Imagine Nepal has successfully guided 15 members of its 2025 K2 expedition to the summit of the world’s second-highest mountain. At 15:32 PKT on August 11, 2025, the team stood on the 8,611m peak, delivering a rare 100% success rate in what has been one of the toughest K2 seasons in recent years.
Traditionally, climbers aim for K2’s summit window in July. This year, however, the notorious jet stream kept high winds raging over the mountain for weeks, reducing opportunities to a minimum. While snow conditions were favourable, teams faced long spells of waiting at Base Camp, needing to be in constant readiness for any break in the weather.
Led by Mingma G himself, Imagine Nepal left Base Camp on August 5 and pushed steadily up the mountain, finally making their successful summit bid in clear but challenging conditions.
