Climbing legend tops Everest again

 

Seven Summit Treks have announced that climbing legend Valeriy Babanov has again reached the Everest summit.

They announced the news via their social media;

“Twice Piolets d’Or Awardee Summits Everest!

“Huge congratulations to Valery Babanov on his successful ascent of Everest. Valery, at age 60, stood atop of Everest at around 5:40 am (Nepal time) on 19 May, 2025.
Valery is a climbing veteran whose mountaineering career has spanned over 40 years with some of the most extreme climbs such as the Kumbhakarna North-West Ridge, Kangtega North face. From 8000ers to pioneering new routes in technical mountains, his climbing adventures are unreal.

“He was awarded the highest honor of mountaineering – the Piolet d’Or aka the Oscar Award of Alpinism in appreciation of his climbs of Meru Central (6310 m) in 2001 and new route up the Nuptse East (7804 m) with Yuri Koshelenko in 2003.”
