Everest 2021 Update – Mike Posner – 7th May

An Everest update from Mike Posner – 7th May.

““He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.” ~ Nietzsche.

“Me and @dcsherpa taking a little nap while soaking in some air at 5800m / ≈19,000’ …body definitely feels strange up here and climbing Everest is such a long process of acclimatization. It takes over a month to get body in position to make a summit WITH OXYGEN.

“It’s strange to not feel my normal amount of energy but I have to trust this process. Resting and waiting is not in my nature, but that’s part of what I need to learn on this journey.

“Special thanks to @drjonkedski and @dcsherpa for taking care of me. Make no mistake, without them I could not climb Everest.

“Most of this journey is mental. Every day new rumors circulate and I have to constantly keep pulling weeds of negativity that pop up in my mind.

“Most of all, the question of “WHY?” keeps coming back. I’m not going back to the old me. That’s why. I want to be somebody I’m proud of. That’s why. I want to explore life and reality and make art from this point of view. That’s why. Keep going.”
