Abuse survivors to attempt Everest

This spring, ‘Team Uprising’ will be trekking into EBC, climbing Lobuche, and attempting to summit Mount Everest.

For all of them, this will be a significant physical and mental challenge. Team Uprising is made up of 12 survivors of childhood abuse by schoolteachers, supported by friends and family.

One of the climbers, Giles Moffatt, said they “want to use our own negative childhood experiences to help other children who have been abused, and those who may be at risk, and raise awareness of the wide-ranging and long-lasting impact of childhood abuse”.

The NSPCC is the leading UK children’s charity fighting to end child abuse and neglect. They help children who have been abused to rebuild their lives, protect those at risk, and find the best ways of preventing abuse from ever happening.

“We can’t change our past, but by sponsoring us, you can help us improve the future for other children”

Donations to Team Uprising can be made at www.justgiving.com/team/uprising.

The attempt, sponsored by ‘Thermos’ will also be filmed by the BBC.
