Everest 2021 Update – Mountain Expeditions – 5th May
An Everest update from Jon Gupta, Mountain Expeditions, on 5th May.
“Tomorrow I’ll be up at 01:50 for a quick breakfast before heading into the Icefall and up to Camp 2 at 6500m. The route is a little slower this year, but I hope this will take us around 8 hours.
“Depending on a number of factors we are hoping for a chance to summit between 10th – 12th May, all going well.
“It’s worth adding here that I am eternally grateful for the Madison Sherpas who have been working super hard behind the scenes and the 7summits fixing team who will hopefully top out on Everest in the next few days.
“Our plan is to attempt Everest and then, energy and weather allowing, to attempt Lhotse 8516m (4th highest) directly after.
“We’re feeling rested, acclimatised and as ready as we can be, but there’s quite a few factors out of our control.
“We’ll do our best!
“I’ll try and update again from the South Col (high camp) to let you know if/when the big day is happening!
“Thanks for all your support and messages”
