Everest Updates – 5th May

Updates on 5th May from those aiming to climb high on Everest in 2024

Imagine Nepal Team

“On May 5th, 2024, Nepal’s Makalu Expedition team made to the summit of Mount Makalu towering at the elevation of 8485 meters. The team, consisting of four international climbers and four Sherpas, faced the treacherous terrain of the northeast region of Nepal. Makalu, known for its steep slopes and precarious ridges, provided a formidable challenge to the expedition.
The summit of Makalu witnessed triumph as Mr. Sashko Kedev from Macedonia and Ms. Naila Kiani from Pakistan added another milestone to their illustrious mountaineering careers. They both have now conquered 10 of the world’s highest 8000-meter peaks, including the prestigious Makalu. Mr. Wang Zhong from China also added Makalu to his 14X8000 meters list. Not to be outdone, Norwegian climber Mr. Hakon Asvang stood atop the peak, celebrating another notable achievement after Dhaulagiri with Imagine Nepal.
Despite a change in plans due to the cancellation of the Shishapangma expedition, the team’s unwavering determination and resolve led them to the summit of Makalu.”

Victor Volodin

After a long and hard week, especially since the weather is starting to deteriorate, we decided to fly to Namche Bazaar for a vacation. The loss of height of two kilometers and the restoration of strength is necessary for high-altitude ascents. The participants feel great.”

7 Summits Club

“The 7 Summits Club has always been at the forefront of the technical development of the Everest base camp. The first attempt to conduct Internet broadcasts from a high-altitude base was carried out back in 2006. These are already legends. A new step has been taken this year. High-speed Internet has reached not only the base camp, but also Camp 2 at 6600. We get an absolutely perfect television picture from the base camp. A fantasy that has become reality.”

AGA Adventures Team

“Everest Expedition update ‼️
The team has successfully acclimatised and are now waiting for the fixing team to reach the summit of Everest! Tomorrow evening if all goes well, Jordan, Phuri and Gelje will head up to Camp 2 to begin their bid for the summit of the highest mountain in the world 💥 We are so excited!!
Here’s to a successful and safe climb.”
