Teamwork and Summits on K2
Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Expedition Director at Seven Summit treks has shared details of early summits and the team work involved to set the route on K2 this year.
“We’re proud to announce that the Seven Summit Treks team members, alongside our incredible Sherpa guides, have successfully summited the formidable Mt. K2 on July 28, 2024, at around 9:00 AM local time!
We truly appreciate the leading role of Mingtemba Sherpa, who fixed the lines from the Bottleneck to the summit as a pioneer.
This achievement was made possible by the remarkable teamwork and collaboration of several dedicated teams.
Here’s a brief overview of the fixing progress on K2:
• The Italian team expertly fixed ropes from Base Camp to Camp 1.
• Seven Summit Treks took on the challenge from Camp 1 to 150m below Camp 3.
• Imagine Nepal skillfully continued from 150m below Camp 3 and managed to fix the ropes up to Camp 3. Seven Summit Treks fixed the ropes from Camp 3 to the lower Camp 4.
• From lower Camp 4 to the Bottleneck, there was a combined effort from Madison, 8K, Imagine Nepal, Glacier Himalayan, and Seven Summit Treks.
• From the Bottleneck to the summit, a mixed team led by Mingtemba Sherpa from Seven Summit Treks took charge.
• A special thanks to the team of Sirbaz Khan, who assisted in fixing and ensuring the safety and success of this climb.
