Everest 2025 Daily Updates – 11th May
Daily updates from teams and individuals climbing Everest during the 2025 Season.
Mitchell Hutchcraft
“I HAVE COMPLETED THE LONGEST CLIMB OF EVEREST IN HISTORY
At 7:20AM this morning Nepali time, I summitted Mount Everest, completing my 8 month journey from England to the top of the world.
Since September the 15th, I have swam 35km across the English channel, cycled 11,921km through 19 countries to sea-level in India, ran 875km to Kathmandu, trekked 360km to Everest Base Camp, and climbed to the highest point on earth.
Words can’t even begin to describe how I feel right now. To fulfill a dream I’ve had since the age of 8, in such an amazing way, is beyond belief. It’s been a long, hard, amazing road to get here, but we finally did it.”

“Our Everest-Lhotse team has wrapped up their acclimatization phase! They’ve done the hard work and honed the skills needed for the climb ahead. One final rotation remains—this time, to the very top.
The last rotation took them as high as Camp 3, over 7,000 meters. Above that, another opportunity to learn, to grow, and pursue the dream of reaching the highest place on Earth.
The team is back down at lower elevations, resting and recovering as they prepare to go up high again. More updates to come from the Himalaya soon!”

Madison Mountaineering
“The morning of May 11th brought uplifting news to our Everest–Lhotse expedition team: our Makalu team had successfully reached the summit! After a deeply emotional beginning to the journey with the loss of our dear teammate, Alex Pancoe, the entire team came together on the top, sharing heartfelt hugs and high-fives. We couldn’t be prouder of this incredible achievement — and we know Alex would be, too. As they awaited updates from the world’s fifth-highest peak, our Everest–Lhotse team rejoiced in the news, drawing inspiration as they prepare for their own summit rotation.”

“Oâ‚‚ bottles are secured with heavy-duty cable netting at 8,000m, thanks to the unstoppable power of our Sherpa team. Tents are up. The winds are holding. And above us, a line of headlamps is slicing through the darkness, inching toward the summit of Everest.
The mountain is calling—and teams are answering.”
Abi Adekanmbi
“We successfully completed our Mount Everest rotation from EBC to Camp 3! After challenging hours of climbing via Khumbu Icefall to Camp 1, the climb from Camp 2 via Lhotse Face to Camp 3 was the toughest for us and the highest elevation (23,500 ft) we reached so far. Getting over the Lhotse Face bergschrund to begin climbing on the Face is a great challenge already (see photo/video I took of my teammate, Mike, descending the bergschrund). Then several grueling hours of climbing followed on Lhotse Face. It’s difficult to take photos on very technical sections of the climb for safety reasons.
We just returned to EBC this morning. Climb preparation and acclimatization is now complete, and we will rest for about 3-4 days. Based on availability of good summit window, weather, and team health after rest days, we will begin our summit attempt up Mount Everest!”
