Tim Mosedale ends historic Nuptse bid
Following summits of Everest and Lhotse, plus a decent attempt at Pumori, Tim Mosedale switched his sights to Nuptse. Unfortunately he couldn’t quite manage it.
“The end of the line. The end of the road. Termination of contract. Cessation of activities. EndEx.” said Tim via his Instagram account.
“Call it what you will I have had to take the extremely difficult decision to call a stop to my attempt on Nuptse.
“There’s a whole range of reasons and I’ll perhaps go in to those another time.
“For the time being the fixing team are still at C3 and the clients are currently on their way to C2. I wish them all the best and hope they get their summit attempt in before the end of the season.
“For me it’s the close of an ambition that’s been a few years in the making. Sadly it just wasn’t possible to get closure this time.
“I have to remind myself I succeeded with my 7th ascent of Everest and managed the Everest / Lhotse twofer for good measure. I also got pretty high on Pumori.
“But that’s not enough is it? When you are trying something massive and you ‘only’ come away having achieved something ‘quite big’ it’s difficult to console yourself.
“If my ambition had been less in the first place then perhaps I’d have come away with 100% success.
“But it wasn’t and I didn’t.
“The decision to quit was the right one at the time. I just have to keep reminding myself about that.”
