Everest 2021

Phortse Family create history on Everest

There were a lot of negative stories coming out from the Everest 2021 Season but there were also some successes, including this one as explained by ‘Angs Himalayan Adventures.’

“It’s been 2 weeks since the Everest season is over. There were lots of Everest stories from COVID, to making and breaking records on the mountain, the first this, the first that, the effects of cyclones on Everest, which the main stream media covered. But here’s one that went unnoticed and unheard by many.”

“Above is the photo of this humble family from the village of Phortse, L-R (father) Tenzing Dorjee Sherpa 50 years old, (daughter front green suit) Pasang Kanchi Sherpa 21 years old and (son lemon yellow suit) Sonam Tashi Sherpa 28 years. This is for the first time in the history of mountaineering that a father , a son and a daughter have stood together on top of Everest, 23rd of May 2021.”

“The father works/guides for IMG (international mountain guides) and their local outfitter Beyul Treks and Expeditions. Then the son followed his father’s footsteps and now the daughter (assit. guide). It was so good to see Pasang Kanchi short roping her client in the western CWM, then on the Lhotse face and in South Col.

“It must have been the proudest moment for the father to have shared the top of the world along with his son and daughter.”
