Everest 2024 Deaths

 

Unfortunately, with each Everest Season comes deaths from the multiple dangers on the mountain and this year there has been a number of deaths of climbers and sherpas on this dangerous peak.

Here is a summary for Everest 2024 deaths from what we have seen.

 

1 and 2: Mongolian pairing Usukhjargal Tsedendamba and Purevsuren Lkhagvajav were found high on Everest descending from the summit. They climbed without Sherpa support or added Oxygen.

3 and 4: While descending from the summit Daniel Paul Peterson and Pasang Tenji Sherpa were caught in a sudden cornice fall and as yet have not been found.

5 and 6: Kenyan mountaineer Cheruiyot Kirui  went missing on May 22nd and his body was found soon after close to the summit. Nawang Sherpa climbed with Cheruiyot Kirui but has not returned to base camp.

7: Nepali climber, Binod Babu Bastakoti, 37, died at about 8,200 meters (26,902 feet) on 22nd May.

8: Banshi Lal, an Indian national, died at HAMS hospital in Kathmandu on May 27 where he was undergoing treatment. Lal was rescued from Mount Everest and airlifted to Kathmandu on May 21 after displaying signs of acute mountain sickness.

9: Romanian, Gabriel Tabara was found dead inside his tent at Camp 3 on May 21st. Tavara, 48, was attempting to climb Lhotse without using supplementary oxygen.
