Everest Updates – 25th May

Updates on 25th May from those aiming to climb high on Everest in 2024

Pioneer Adventures

“Pioneer Adventure is stoked to announce our Everest and Lhotse Expedition team member Nangsal Choedon Lama has set a historic record. Nangsal has become the first Nepali woman to traverse from Everest Base Camp to the summit of Mt. Everest, onward to summit Mt. Lhotse, and back to Everest Base Camp in an astounding 47 hours. (She left EBC on May 22, 2024 at 4:00 AM and returned to EBC at 3:00 am in May 24, 2024.)
She was accompanied by Pioneer Adventure Climbing Guide Kusang Dorchi Sherpa.
Last year, Nangsal successfully summited Mt. Manaslu (real summit) with Pioneer Adventure. Her triumph on Manaslu inspired her to not only summit Everest, the highest mountain in the world, but also to attempt the formidable double summit of Everest and Lhotse.
Nangsal hails from the village of Samagaun, where she previously worked as a porter, carrying loads for climbers from around the globe. Her goals are to inspire the youth of her district, showing them that with opportunity and determination anyone can achieve their dreams and overcome their challenges.
Pioneer Adventure salutes Nangsal for her incredible record and remains committed to supporting her future endeavors.”

Ryan Mitchell

“The thought of going after Everest began when the stupid idea of making a YouTube video titled “I Climbed Mount Everest” crossed my mind, just about a year and 5 months ago. I thought it was a good title, a “banger” as we say, so I looked lightly into Everest. Then I dove deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole of Everest and mountaineering. From there I was hooked and promised myself I’d make it happen
Just a couple days ago, this vision became a reality as Phurba had the 2 of us running from camp 4 to the summit in just 5 hours
The amount of growth, physically and mentally, I’ve recieved from this sport and journey is that I’d be nowhere near if I had continued to sit in my comfort zone, making minecraft videos 8+ hours everyday.
This 40+ day long expedition would not have been possible without Garrett Madison and his skilled team of sherpas. I also could not have done it without Alan Arnette’s mentorship and guidance.”

ClimbingTheSevenSummits Team

“To run a successful Everest expedition it takes an entire team of focused individuals and an ability to rely on every member of that team to do their job well. This season, more than any other, has been about team work, and that is why we have been so successful.

From the climbing Sherpa stocking camps with oxygen and supplies, to the climbers showing up prepared and being positive teammates, to our ktm staff taking care of our every in town need, to office staff in US diligently answering questions and dialing in logistics, to kitchen staff making delicious and hearty meals, to the guides from around the world keeping our teams safe, to the electrician, the barista, the porters, Big Tendi managing logistics at base camp and of course little Tendi running the show at camp 2 and above spending 4 days consecutively at the South Col or higher. Our team pulled together this year and everyone did their jobs and did them extremely well. It really was incredible to watch and an honor to be a part of.

Thank you to our entire team for working your butts off to make this year a success! We are immensely proud of our team and the experience we bring to our climbers.”

Madison Mountaineering

“At the top of the world…the summit of Mount Everest!
The @madisonmtng team topped out on the world’s highest peak May 23rd, everyone together at the summit and returning safely to base camp.
I’m so proud of all of our climbers and our team’s collective success in reaching the true summits of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse this season for the 2nd year in a row!!
My gratitude runs deep for our amazing sherpa team and other support staff who make it possible for us to accomplish such extraordinary feats and live our dreams to the fullest!
We were blessed with a fantastic summit day all around; great weather & route conditions, no crowds, memories of the climb and friendships to savor in the years ahead!”
